AustraliaProf. Tom Gedeon is a leading expert in artificial intelligence and human-centred computing, currently serving as a Professor at Curtin University, Australia. Currently he is working as the AI Chair, Human-centric Advancements. His research spans machine learning, explainable AI, affective computing, and neural networks, with a strong emphasis on practical applications that enhance human–computer interaction. With over 470 publications and over 15,000 citations, Prof. Gedeon has made significant contributions to understanding cognitive load, emotion recognition, and bio-signal analysis using AI techniques. Prof. Gedeon is also an IEEE senior member and a frequent contributor to top-tier journals and conferences in AI and data science.

Sri LankaDr. Romesh Ranawana is a distinguished expert in Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, currently serving as the Group Chief Analytics and AI Officer at Dialog Axiata PLC. With a career spanning multiple industries, Dr. Ranawana has demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation in AI applications. He is the Chairman of the National Committee to Formulate an AI Policy and Strategy for Sri Lanka and also chairs the Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) AI Center of Excellence, promoting AI development and adoption in the country.

Initial Submission Requirements
- •Authors are invited to submit full papers of no more than six (6) pages including results, figures, tables and references in standard IEEE double-column format.
- •Authors must STRICTLY follow the provided template.
- •IEEE manuscript template for Microsoft Word is available here.
- •Only the papers that are submitted through CMT system will be considered for the review process.
- •Author names and their affiliations should be removed from the initial PDF file for the double-blind review process.

SLAAI Best Undergraduate AI Project Award 2025
Awarded by The Sri Lanka Association for Artificial Intelligence (SLAAI)
Organized by the IEEE Student Chapter of OUSL
The Sri Lanka Association for Artificial Intelligence (SLAAI) is awarded for an exceptional undergraduate AI based research project carried out by an undergraduate level student/group of students of any Sri Lankan University in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Guidelines for Applicants
Eligibility Period
The award is open to any undergraduate or graduate who has completed a computing degree from a recognized university in Sri Lanka between 01/01/2023 and 01/01/2025.
Submission Requirements
A duly completed application form must be submitted along with:
- A one-page abstract of the project.
- A 7-minute video demonstration of the project (for the first-round evaluation).
Evaluation Process
Selected applications will proceed to the second round, which will involve a physical project demonstration and evaluation.
Important Notes
- •SLAAI reserves the right to withhold awards if the submissions do not meet the expected standards of quality.
- •The decision of SLAAI and the evaluation panel is final and conclusive.
- •Late submissions or incomplete applications will not be considered.
- •Awards will be presented at the Annual SLAAI Conference.
Award Categories
Based on evaluation marks, eligible projects will receive a cash prize and a certificate. Awards are categorized as:
