" Overreacting innovation with artificial intelligence in context "

Fifth SLAAI-International Conference on Artificial Intelligence – 2021 (SLAAI-ICAI -2021), a major international gathering of researchers in AI, is proudly announced by Sri Lanka Association for Artificial Intelligence. SLAAI-ICAI-2021 provides a forum to interact with world-class researchers in Symbolic-AI and Non-symbolic - AI to share their experience and thoughts of future directions of AI to device smart solutions for problems with greater challenges. The conference will be held on 6th & 7th December, 2021 at University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. SLAAI-ICAI-2021 will be held as a virtual conference.

Keynote Speakers

Prof. Mehrdad Teratani

LISA - ULB, Laboratory of Image Synthesis and Analysis

Prof. Mehrdad Teratani received his PhD degree in Information Electronics from Nagoya University, Japan, in 2004. During 2004 to 2019, he was affiliated with: Nagoya University as a researcher for three years; KDDI Research as a researcher for two years; National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) as a senior researcher for two years; and Nagoya University as an associate professor for nine years, Japan. In January 2020, he joined the École polytechnique de Bruxelles as a professor at Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium. He has been following and contributing to MPEG standardization since 2009, as an expert, a co-chair and a chair, especially the activities on 3D video processing and immersive video applications. He holds 16 granted patents. He is an IEEE Senior Member, active in IEEE Circuits and Systems and IEEE Signal Processing Societies.

Dr. Harsha Kalutarage

Lecturer, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen

Dr Kalutarage is currently a Lecturer in Cybersecurity in the School of Computing at Robert Gordon University, United Kindom. His research spans AI & Security with a particular focus on using AI techniques for security applications and building security for AI-embedded systems (via analyzing security vulnerabilities of AI algorithms). Harsha has 10+ years of research experience in this area and has produced 50+ publications, patent and technology transfers to industry. He has also served as an invited speaker, guest editor, technical co-chair and PC member for numerous venues in this area. Before RGU, he was a Senior Research Engineer at Queen's University Belfast and a Postdoctoral researcher at Coventry University. Harsha holds a PhD in Computing (Cybersecurity).

All papers submitted to this conference will go through a double blind peer review process handled by the programme committee. Acceptance will be based on originality, significance, technical soundness, presentation, and references. The conference programme committee makes the final decision on the acceptance or rejection of a paper. View more details here .

Initial Submission for Review

  • Authors are invited to submit full papers of no more than six (6) pages including results, figures, tables and references in standard IEEE double-column format.
  • Authors must STRICTLY follow the provided template.
  • IEEE manuscript template for Microsoft Word is available in the conference website:Ms Word Template
  • Only the papers that are submitted through the EDAS system will be considered for the review process.

Instructions for Authors

  • All papers should be written in English.
  • Maximum length of a paper is limited to 6 printed A4 pages in given format.
  • Use the following template while preparing full papers: IEEE Templates
  • Review process is Double-blind. Follow the following instructions in your first submission.
    • Do NOT include any authors’ information such as name, affiliations, e-mail, etc. in the initial manuscript.
    • Do NOT include any grant information or personal acknowledgements in the initial manuscript.
    • All references including authors’ previous work should be referred as 3rd-persons’ works.

Use the following guidelines while submitting full papers:

  • All paper submissions are through EDAS.
    • Please note that first time users need to create a new EDAS account. Please use your institutional e-mail address while registering.
  • While submitting a paper select the most appropriate Track for your paper.
  • Manuscript submission should be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) only. Once accepted, all Camera Ready papers should be in IEEE compliant format.
  • Manuscripts that do not conform to the above formatting guidelines will not be considered. If you experience any font embedding issues while uploading the paper to EDAS please follow IEEE instructions.
  • We request all authors to carefully revise the manuscript for language and formatting.

  1. Formatting Camera Ready Paper

    • Address review comments carefully. SLAAI-ICAI-2021 Program Committee will scrutinize each camera-ready paper and have the right to REJECT your paper if it is determined that author(s) has not taken sufficient effort to improve the paper based on review comments.
    • Paper MUST strictly follow 2-column IEEE template.
    • Enter copyright notice on paper as in IEEE template.
    • Enter any acknowledgements for funding source (e.g., NSF, NRC, and SRC), if applicable. Once paper goes to proceedings it CANNOT be modified.
    • If title, abstract, and keywords of the final paper is different from the version submitted to EDAS during the review phase, you may edit those. However, no new authors can be added.
    • Author names, affiliation, and order of names on EDAS need to be the same as what is on the final paper. Proceedings will be prepared based on this data and CANNOT be later modified.
    • INCLUDE author information, i.e. names, affiliations, email as in IEEE template in Camera Ready paper.
    • Abstract on EDAS should be the same as the abstract on final paper. IMPORTANT: Abstract in EDAS will be used for proceedings.

Presentation

  • Please update in EDAS system who among the authors will be attending and presenting the paper.

  • Every presenter will be given 15 minutes for presentation plus 5 minutes for Q&A.
